The Celestial Sequence – Faraday Commission

Sahana Malik was born into a very religious family and she, like her parents, dedicated her life to religion since childhood, and in almost every stage of her life. She even considered having a life dedicated exclusively to religion. However, a friend, also religious, was the one who made her an invitation that changed her life… not only her life, but also her way of thinking. Quasim Ganesan was a Professor at a religious University, and when he realized that Sahana was endowed with intelligence above the average levels, he invited her to pursue higher education at his side.

As the world changed, with new conflicts and wars, and also new paradigms, Sahana followed her studies in Mechanical Engineering, and with every step she took, her studies put her beliefs in check. After graduating, she was invited by Quasim to join a large research group on ultra-advanced technologies: the Faraday Commission.

In her new group, Sahana met Vajradhar Rajan, a new scientist of the group, totally agnostic to religions. Despite hating Vajradhar on a day-to-day basis, with every discussion of religion and technology, a shadow of doubt grew in her mind, and gradually Sahana began to doubt also the divine forces she once believed in without hesitation.

As if it wasn’t enough to have a rival inside the corporation of their new work, the policies there were extremely competitive. Each group should engage in scientific knowledge and work to create something new, a new technology. Then Sahana decided to dedicate herself to a subject that had always interested her: nanotechnology.

The young scientist worked for three years, with all the resources at her disposal and the project seemed to get nowhere. Her nanobots functioned theoretically and practically, however, she could not create robots with enough ability to take orders and work in groups, which made them nearly useless. And it was in the fourth year, when she was supposed to present her final project, that she had her first conflict in the corporation.

In the partial council, Sahana presented her work and did not draw much attention to the advisers. It was Vajradhar who most pleased the owners of the money. None but her arch-rival was now the advisers and President’s dearest; Quasim Ganesan. And what angered Sahana the most was that Vajradhar presented a prototype of a Faraday cannon: a giant contraption capable of moving objects, and with high energy consumption, the cannon would be able to push walls or vehicles so hard that it would destroy them on impact. And due to the high possibility of this cannon being used in the military industry, Vajradhar managed to get most of the resources for his project for the next four years.

Now with less money for her projects, Sahana continued with her nanobots, time went by, and she was still stuck in the same place. Sahana was able to improve the models of her robots by deploying a super-frequency nano-antenna, very similar to the old wireless protocols. As she was able to allocate a hundred million unique robots in one centimeter of nanobots, they could all receive information, but the computer controller couldn’t process the answers from all of them at the same time. She also tried to create a distributed network, which even worked with a few of them in operation, but when she tried them all at once, they ended up overloading and many of them misrepresented themselves or even destroyed themselves trying to perform wrong tasks.

One day, by chance, Sahana tried to connect the nanobots in its interface of brain connection. Her main idea was that maybe the human brain was able to control all nanorobots at the same time. She turned them on, set up the communication protocol and then… felt a strong pain in her head and everything went dark, as if death had taken over.

When Sahana woke up, she was scared. She was in a dark place, but little by little, what prevented the light from reaching her eyes, faded away. She felt like a bird at the moment of birth. A shell that surrounded her began to crumble like smoke, and that same smoke was levitating around it, as if a cloud now protected it. Gradually, she managed to stand up and, despite the headache, understood that the nanorobots were there, working to protect her.

With a simple thought, Sahana managed to order all of them to return to their boxes, where the nanorobots were kept. Now she could command them with simple thoughts and they would respond almost instantaneously to her commands. Sahana took days to come out of the trance of thoughts she was involved in. She tried to use robots for basic actions, like reproducing themselves and making small objects.

And despite the success of her research, with each day gone by, her thoughts plunged even deeper into the doubt that lived inside her head: how did she control those robots? With a simple thought they obeyed. What could be doing that? The depression caused by tiredness led Sahana to look for her old bedside book, the one who possessed the word of God, and after much thought, a fire was born again inside her chest.

“That can only be it!” Sahana babbled.  “The only explanation for this is in God!”.

When Sahana showed Quasim Ganesan her research and theories, the dedicated student managed to pluck once again a smile from her old teacher.

“And what have you called it?” asked the teacher, with an orientation tone. “I mean, even though you still need to study this further, if you’ve found a human-brain mechanism that seems to be prepared for this technology, what is the name of that mechanism?”

“Yes, I’ve thought about one,” the student replied. “By the way, I’ve spent weeks thinking about it. I decided to call it the Celestial Sequence. And I’ll tell you what, she’s been with us for a long time. For example, the Netrunners are able to carry consciousness inside a computer to accomplish their feats. Perhaps we missed looking at this subject with a little more philosophy, but this mechanism has been at work in the human body for a long time.”

The results of the study had a very strong impact on the Faraday Commission. With the return of the religious thought aspect linked to the scientific one, Quasim Ganesan founded a new religion, where they would not necessarily worship a God, but rather technology. Ascension through the creations of man.

The Faraday Commission announced to the world its Tecnomantes, technicians able to use nanotechnology to build, cure and other operations. And with these technicians, the commission would begin the construction of a city that would float over the Indian Ocean. They would use Faraday’s cannon to keep the city afloat. This new city would be the seat of the Faraday Commission and Quasim would be the supreme leader, now under the title: God President Quasim Ganesan.

And that was the beginning of a new religion: Sons of Theotexos
